City Council Express Condolences to Amy Wade's Family

The Mayor Nyla Dalhaus, along with the entire City Council wish to express our condolences to the Amy Wade Family in her passing. Amy dedicated 48 years of faithful service to the City of Cut and Shoot as City Secretary. She truly grew with the city. What began as attending City Council meetings once a month to take notes evolved into a lifelong calling as the city expanded and flourished. During her tenure, the city grew to employ multiple staff members and establish essential departments, including water services and a police department. If you knew the City of Cut and Shoot, you knew Amy. To many, she was the heart of City Hall. To her family, she will always be remembered as the First Lady of the City of Cut and Shoot.

Amy Lavonne Wade (Barnhart), age 83, of Cleveland, Texas, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on January 8, 2026. She passed peacefully at her home, surrounded by her daughters, Lavonne and Stacy, and her granddaughter, Dena.
Amy was born on July 8, 1942, in Conroe, Texas, to Glen and Amy Barnhart. She was raised in Cut and Shoot, Texas, a place that would remain at the heart of her life and service.
Amy married the love of her life, Ronald Wade, and together they began their marriage running a dairy farm. She often shared stories of milking cows and dealing with a few stubborn bulls, memories she recalled with humor and pride. They built their family home on Mann Road in Cut and Shoot, next door to her parents’ home, where they raised their two daughters and built a life grounded in faith, family, and hard work.
Years later, Amy sold the home where she raised her girls and moved next door to her daughter, Stacy, where her grandchildren, Wade and Rheanna, saw their beloved Mamoo daily.
Above all else, family was Amy’s greatest joy. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was most proud of her daughters, lovingly known as “Her Girls,” who were her entire world.
Amy is preceded in death by her parents, Glen and Amy Barnhart; her beloved husband, Ronald Wade; and her sister, Eleanor Sweer.
She is survived by her daughters, Lavonne Renfro and husband Dean of Conroe, and Stacy Blair and husband Emmett of Cleveland; her brother, Gerald Barnhart and wife Jeanette; and her sister, Amy Sweaza.
She also leaves behind her treasured grandchildren and their families: granddaughter Dena Miller and husband Tucker, and daughter Makenzie; grandson Joshua Renfro and wife Christine, and children Cayden, Adrian, and Luis; grandson Caleb Renfro and wife Ka’Za, and children Owen and Clayton; grandson Wade Blair; and granddaughter Rheanna Blair.
Amy’s life was deeply rooted in her faith. She was a faithful member of New Bethlehem Baptist Church in Cut and Shoot for over 56 years. She served her church in many roles, including Sunday School teacher until September 2025, church pianist, organist, choir member, and committee volunteer. Her beautiful soprano voice was known throughout the church. New Bethlehem Baptist Church was not only her place of worship, but the church home where she and Ronny raised their family and where both of their daughters were married.
In addition to her service to the city and church, Amy also served her community as an Election Judge for her Montgomery County voting box, taking her civic duties seriously.
Amy loved cooking, watching sports of all kinds, especially bull riding, and staying connected with those she loved. She prayed daily for her family and friends up until just days before her passing. Her faith was unwavering. Her intelligence was remarkable, with an extraordinary memory for dates, events, and details. She had a special love for emojis once she got her first phone, with hearts and praying hands becoming her signature. When Amy said “all heart,” it meant something deeper than words, a love greater than “I love you,” because her whole heart belonged to her family.
Visitation will be held on January 14, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at McNutt Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 11:00 a.m. Graveside services will take place immediately after at Conroe Memorial Park, located at 1703 Porter Road, Conroe, Texas 77301.
The family would like to extend heartfelt gratitude to Hospice 365, especially Bri, Sheena, and the entire team, who became a tremendous source of comfort and support to Amy and to her daughters as they navigated the daily changes in her care. Their compassion, love, and guidance meant more than words can express.
Amy Lavonne Wade leaves behind a legacy of faith, service, love, and devotion that will live on in her family, her church, and the city she helped build.
